Decorator Crab

underwater photograph of a decorator crabDecorator crabs have a sticky saliva that they use to attach the items that they find to their bodies. They pick up an item and then they dab the item to their to mouths and then they use their long pincers to attach the item to their back or legs.





Puget Sound King Crab

underwater photograph of a puget sound king crab These beautiful crabs were rarely seen not so long ago. Thanks to stricter harvesting guidelines their numbers have grown. I found this one at Ogden Point (The Breakwater) in Victoria.


Hermit Crabs

The hermit crab lives in the shells of dead mollusks (snail like creatures). As they grow they look for a larger shell and simply hop out of the old and into the new.

Red Rock Crab

These crabs can grow to about 15 cms. (5 to 6 inches)
